THE GHOST
PLANET
ARTS COLLECTIVE & VARIETY SHOW
FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, WRITER, HOST

The Ghost Planet was an arts collective and associated monthly variety show founded and directed by me. With a staff of 13 artists including myself, we worked hard to build a supportive and diverse monthly late-night live variety show featuring both local artists and written sketches and music from our staff.
The story behind The Ghost Planet as a variety show was more than just "it's a variety show." It was an absurdist sci-fi narrative about me playing a character who was Earth's "intergalactic cultural ambassador." The conceit of the show was that I, as the host, would pick up a group of guest artists from Earth once a month and fly them to space for a night of human performance.
Additionally, we had built-in bits we wrote ourselves, which you can see in the clips here on this page.
As far as my duties, I began as the in-charge-of-everything person, which was maybe a bit much. I designed and built the sets, handled all marketing, handled all operations and booking... So I quickly assembled a team of the most creative and interesting people in my life. We booked and wrote one show per month.
After a year's run and over 50% sold-out shows, we had to call it quits. But it will forever be one of my proudest creative projects.
