SIGNS OF
CHANGE
ILLUSTRATION SERIES, 2022
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION
In 2008, I moved into Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood as a young artist. Logan Square, a historically Puerto Rican part of Chicago, soon after faced a flood of young artists followed by young professionals, followed by skyrocketing rents and massive cultural shifts. Acknowledging my part in the shifting landscape of the area, a shift that was devastating to some longtime residents, I took on a small project in which I would work to archive the signs of businesses that had gone missing in the neighborhood via illustration. Since relocating to Tokyo, the project has been on a bit of a hiatus, but I fully intend to work on this series perpetually.
